Bikes are the business for company directors

Quotes for those describing themselves as ‘company directors’ has increased for both new and used bikes; up 32.2% for new bikes and 9.7% for used, according to the latest stats from the Two Wheel Data Centre. 

During April, May and June, there was also an increase in the number of people looking for motorcycle insurance who described themselves as 'retired'.  This was up 19.3% for used bikes and 9.4% for new machines, compared to the same time last year. 

‘Student’ remains the most popular occupation for those seeking quotes and there was an increase in students insuring new bikes, but a reduction for used bikes.  

Business use is up and so is the number of riders who don’t have a car

Whilst the vast majority of riders insure for social and domestic use, excluding commuting (65%), there has been a marked increase in the number of insurance quotes for business use; up 19.9% for new bikes and 10.4% for used bikes.

Interestingly the number of riders who don’t own a car has increased too.  This has increased by 18.5% for those looking to insure a new bike, and is up 10.6% for those insuring used bikes.
