Promoting, Protecting and Expanding the Motorcycle Industry

Motorcycle Lobby Day - 7th March 2012

A Parliamentary ‘Motorcycle Lobby Day’ will take place on 7th March 2012.  This has been organised by MCI and the riders groups MAG and BMF, under the cross motorcycle community banner; ‘Riders Are Voters’.

Lobby Day is an opportunity for riders and motorcycle business owners from across the UK to gather at Parliament to meet politicians and brief them directly on key issues of concern. Member activities such as this are invaluable support for the ongoing efforts of MCI to campaign for better motorcycling policies.

Key Messages - calls for Government to:
  • Continue support for industry on EU Type-Approval regulations and the ‘Framework regulation’.
  • Fulfil its pledges to industry in relation to the licensing review and other related issues.
  • Recognise the importance of motorcycling to individual mobility, sport, leisure riding and the economy.
Request for Member Action
The MCI urges support and attendance from Members who are requested to write to the MP which represents their constituency where their business is located to arrange a meeting with them in Parliament on 7th March.   MPs often tell MCI that they want to hear from their constituents – let’s make sure they do!

In order to attract Lobby Day attendance, MCI will be contacting all MPs and will conduct follow up communication, particularly among the 100 or so MPs who have registered transport or motorcycle sport as an interest.
