ABOUT THE MCI Who Are We? We are The Trade Association that represents the interests of the supply side of the UK Motor Cycle Industry. Our Members include Motorcycle Manufacturers and Importers, Clothing and Accessory Manufacturers, Importers and Wholesalers, Motorcycle Marketing Services including the major finance houses and insurance brokers. Click here to see a full Members listing. Simply put, our Mission Statement is “To develop and sustain an environment whereby motorcycling can flourish”. So how do we do this, in summary, we spend much of our time lobbying and communicating with the powers that be, whether they be the European Commission, or the UK Government, we are there to ensure that motorcycling is given the best opportunity to thrive in the UK. The MCI also produce a unique range of statistical products focused on new registration data of two wheeled vehicles in the UK. We are also involved in research into trends and issues within the Industry and produce specific reports on many areas of motorcycle usage in the UK. Although we are not a public facing organisation, we do run a number of promotions in the UK designed to encourage people onto two wheels. ‘National Motorcycle Week,’ encompassing ‘Ride to Work Day’, designed at educating people about the benefits of using two wheels, e.g. more economical, lower emissions, more convenient and a fun way to travel Click here for more information on Ride to work day. The Association has a good relationship with the press, and is used by many journalists as a useful source of information on the UK Industry. The MCI also encourages the promotion of motorcycling to non-specialist press with the Media Test Day. The annual Test day allows all journalists the opportunity to experience first hand the best the industry has to offer. We are also responsible for organising the International Motor Cycle & Scooter Show held annually at the NEC, which is the best place to see everything motorcycle related under one roof.
