MCIA Annual Conference and networking event

MCIA Secured announces London cover-up operation

18th July 2018

The Motorcycle Industry Association, through its MCIA Secured rating scheme, together with the Metropolitan Police, will on Thursday 19th July 2018, be targeting selected motorcycle and scooter parking bays in Central London. 

Representatives from MCIA member companies and the Metropolitan and City of London Police, will be talking to riders parking their machines, about their riding habits and their approach to security, as well as issuing complimentary bike covers.

Press Statement: Changes to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are for manufacturers not retailers

The law is changing regarding the manufacture of motorcycle safety clothing and this has caused some confusion within the motorcycle media as to how this will affect customers, or what can be offered for sale.  The Motorcycle Industry Association would like to therefore assure customers that new legislation is mostly for manufacturers and does not apply to retail stock, so will have no effect on what can be bought or sold for some time to come.

Government needs to recognise the potential of motorcycles and scooters to help deliver clean air

With National Clean Air Day (21st June) falling in the middle of Ride to Work Week (18th – 24th June), it is a good opportunity to highlight the part motorcycles and scooters could play in reducing air pollution in the UK.

Motorcycle insurers and brokers Ageas, Aviva,  Bennetts, BikeSure, Devitt Insurance, LV, Lexham Insurance and Zenith are all offering free commuter cover to leisure riders, so that they can ride to work during national Ride to Work Week (18th to 24th June).

Motorcycle Industry Association announces a new motorcycle & scooter anti-theft security rating programme

Working with the support of the major motorcycle manufacturers, the Motorcycle Industry Association has today announced a ‘star rating’ programme, designed to recognise and highlight to buyers which anti-theft devices are fitted or supplied as standard on new motorcycles and scooters.

MCIA condemns European Commission move to end motorcycle sport

The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) is today calling on EU member governments and MEPs to reject European Commission proposals which threaten to end all forms of competitive and grassroots motorsport across the EU, including the UK.
