Get On is the motorcycle industry’s free ‘try out’ programme, which is putting on similar events at other selected test centres across the UK, to give people their first taste of motorcycling in a safe and structured environment.
During hour-long sessions, the rider will be introduced to gears, brakes and slow speed handling by a professional instructor. They will also be given advice about wearing protective clothing and how to find a good local trainer, should they decide to take their interest further.
Sessions can be booked beforehand by either phoning 02476 408040, or via the website www.geton.co.uk or people can turn up on the day. Sessions start at 9am and finish by 5pm. All protective clothing is provided, but riders should wear long trousers and sturdy shoes and those under 16 need to bring an adult.

The Newcastle/Sunderland road network is now the 3rd most congested in the UK, according to the latest Tom Tom report. Commuters in this area now spend 34 extra minutes each day in traffic at peak times, which totals 129 hours each year!
Motorcyclists usually enjoy shorter journey times as they are usually able to filter through congested traffic. Motorcycle parking is also often free and allows the rider to get closer to their end destination, which saves money and time. This mode of commuter transport is also more likely to put a smile on your face, with riders reporting higher levels of satisfaction than people who use other forms of transport for their journey to and from work.
