The MCI’s Steve Kenward, Karen Cole and Craig Carey-Clinch, together with Deputy Chief Constable David Griffin, the motorcycle lead for the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) met with Transport Minister Stephen Hammond yesterday, to outline the need for a national motorcycle safety framework.
These talks come ahead of a Safety Conference, to be partnered by MCI and ACPO in November. The conference will be attended by key stakeholders and policy makers to seek ways to change attitudes towards motorcycling and its safety considerations, in order to further reduce motorcycle casualties. The meeting, which took place at the Houses of Parliament is part of an ongoing dialogue between the MCI and the Department for Transport (DfT), which recently resulted in the MCI contributing to the DfT’s Think! Campaign - promoting the idea that motorcyclists should allow themselves ‘time to react’.
