There are a number of ways in which members can contribute to two national BikeSafe events planned for 2013. Members can exhibit for free at both events and the organisers would welcome the loan of bikes from manufacturers and dealers, as the ride out is a major component of the BikeSafe experience.
BikeSafe’s flagship show is on the 8th and 9th of June in Doncaster. This year, it will be organised by the South Yorkshire Police, who organised the first event in Sheffield in 2011. Members will recall this was a highly successful weekend and it is anticipated that the attendance achieved in 2011 – around 12,000 will be repeated for 2013. Manufacturers are invited to support with larger exhibition stands for this event.
Around 400 ride outs are usually conducted from the National BikeSafe Show and this year it is hoped to achieve at least the same number, with up to 80 police motorcyclists in attendance. The June event will have a dedicated indoor exhibition and display area, a Get On arena, Honda’s ‘My First Licence’, trade stands, a moto-gymkhana, display riding and other family attractions.
The National BikeSafe Co-ordinator Glen Dennis says both events will provide additional opportunities in the biking calendar to showcase bikes, merchandise and services connected to motorcycling, whilst also demonstrating social responsibility by being associated with a national safety project.
The Castle Combe Track Experience, 20 April, is aimed at sports bike riders and will provide an ‘escorted’ track day experience, for which a charge of £30 will be made. This is particularly suited to dealer and race team support. General entry for the public will be free and there will also be dealer display areas and trade stands, as well as Get On, family attractions, quad bikes and display riding. It will take place in Wiltshire, which has been chosen for its accessibility to Wales and the South East - so attendance is expected to be up to 5000.
A comprehensive media strategy is planned for both events. Email Karen Cole for more details.
