Press Release: Call to Action for Ride to Work Day, 18 June 2012

Monday 18th June 2012 is Ride to Work Day, the day that sees motorcycle and scooter riders commute to work to demonstrate to a wide public audience the number of motorcyclists in the UK.

A motorcycle industry initiative and part of International Ride to Work Day which is 21 this year, Ride to Work Day is “a focus for showing that motorcycles and scooters are perfect personal transport solutions and to demonstrate to other commuters the camaraderie we have as riders” said Steve Kenward, CEO, MCI.

“This year we want even more people and companies to join in and to arrange events, not only on Monday 18 June, but also on the preceding weekend, to really celebrate the motorcycle community working together.”

The industry is planning Ride to Work Day activity now.  Motorcycle manufacturers and importers, dealerships around the country, accessory and component suppliers, service providers, training bodies, motorcycle owners groups, riders’ groups – all are invited to register their initial plans with the Ride to Work Day team at Promark PR, who will help promote the event and update details to the dedicated website at www.ridetoworkday.co.uk

Suggested events include:
  • Biker Breakfasts at dealerships or workplace, for the early risers
  • Ride outs/ into work, group riding is always fun
  • Celebrity riders to join in rides to work
  •  ‘Have a go’ events for non-riders at workplaces
  • Lunch & learn, talks or demonstrations to promote economy and freedom of biking
  • Ride out & BBQ after work, keep the celebration going with more time to enjoy it
  • Dealer events over the weekend of 16/17 June, such as preparing your bike or treating yourself to a new piece of clothing for Ride to Work Day
