The MCI’s Steve Kenward is talking today at the National Motorcycle Safety Conference. The conference, organised by the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers (AIRSO) brings together those involved in motorcycle safety, to work towards a common goal of reducing road casualties among riders. CEO Steve Kenward will elaborate on research from Europe which shows a correlation between greater PTW use and lower rates of serious accidents. Where 10% or more of vehicles on the road are motorcycles, mopeds or scooters there is a proportionate reduction in rider fatalities. There is also a growing body of evidence that those who start their driving careers on a motorcycle make better car drivers too. With congestion set to get worse, Steve Kenward will argue that encouraging more people onto motorcycles will be ultimately result in a ‘virtuous circle’ leading to better road users.
