A number of members have been taking advantage of the latest member benefit - free MCI induction days for staff.
Recognising a lack of training, the MCI introduced ‘induction days’ in July for those who have little or no knowledge of the motorcycle sector, or wanted to brush up on new legislation, such as 3DLD.
Steve Kenward and Sandra Cole are co-presenting the inductions days, which focus on two main elements of motorcycling – an overview of the industry and what’s involved in riding a motorcycle or scooter. For larger groups, these can be delivered on-site and for smaller groups or individuals, there are a number of days scheduled to be run at the MCI’s premises in Coventry.
Members who have held induction days at their premises so far are Groupama, Bauer Publishing and KTM. Michelin is scheduled for the New Year on January 29th
and the company has kindly offered places for other members to attend at its premises in Stoke. Michelin has a purpose built training centre and interested parties should contact Sandra Cole, Membership Manager.
Sandra Cole says MCI Induction Days could also be of benefit to those outside the industry, although this will incur a cost: “I can see this would be useful for a number of businesses not yet working inside the motorcycle industry – but hoping to move in. For example PR companies pitching for motorcycle related accounts. It just isn’t possible to operate effectively within the industry without having some sort of accurate overview. The danger of neglecting this is that staff will fall back on clichés.”
There are a number of scheduled induction days at the MCI’s Coventry premises for 2014, which any member is welcome to attend.
