MCIA to attend Biker Down Conference

LATEST TWEETS

MCIA’s Safety Manager Jenny Luckman will join delegates at the 2016 Biker Down Conference tomorrow (Friday October 7th), to hear how road safety professionals can best deliver Biker Down courses across the UK.

Originally developed by Kent Fire & Rescue Service, Biker Down is delivered free of charge by 24 fire and rescue teams across the UK and provides bikers with advice about what to do if a fellow rider comes off their bike.

The idea behind tomorrow’s conference is to help standardise delivery of Biker Down courses across the UK.  It will be attended by 25 fire service teams as well as other safety stakeholders and is being held at the Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service Training Centre in Stevenage.

Jenny Luckman works across a number of projects to help rider safety and is currently working closely with Karen Cole, MCIA Director of Safety and Training, to launch an updated version of the Motorcycle Safety and Transport Policy Framework. The framework is co-written by the National Police Chiefs’ Council and calls for greater inclusion of motorcycles into mainstream transport planning to improve safety for riders.
