Press Release: Public were quick off the mark to try off-road sport. Places went like hot cakes!

Public were quick off the mark to try off-road sport.    Places went like hot cakes!

The interest in an event giving members of the public the chance to try off-road sport for free has been overwhelming.  100 places went as soon as registration went live at 9 am yesterday (13th August); though it’s still possible to join the waiting list.
The event, arranged by members of the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI), is a cross industry initiative to highlight how easy it is to get into motorcycle off-road sport.  The organisers include AJP, Honda, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha and Zero electric motorcycles, who are providing bikes, equipment and professional trainers - including three times world champion Dave Thorpe.
Registration was on a first come, first served basis, which the organisers felt was the fairest way to allocate spaces for the event, which takes place at Adstone, Northamptonshire on Saturday 15th September.
Steve Kenward, CEO of the MCI says: ‘The MCI is delighted in the interest this event has generated.  This is the first time anything of this kind has ever been organised and it’s obvious from today’s reaction that there is a need for introductory events.  Off-road motorcycling is the most cost effective way of taking part in motorsport and the opportunity this day offers has clearly captured the imagination of a lot of people keen to try it for themselves for the first time’.
He added, ‘Perhaps this enthusiasm is part of the post-Olympics glow, which has left people eager to get involved in sport themselves.’
Organisers are keen for those who’ve missed out to join the waiting list.  Anyone who registers will be added to the list and offered a place should one become available.  They will also be first to be informed about similar events in the future.
