Information and Guidance

MCIA is trusted and central to the industry and as such has access to a wide and unique range of information and services.  

We are always pleased to help members out with their information requirements, and if we don’t have what is required, we usually know where it can be found. This can save a lot of time in desk research.

We offer members specialist advice in a number of areas, particularly in the legal and technical arena, and also help with new motorcycle registration support.

Notifications of changes in legislation, regulation and other external factors provide an early warning system and the advice offered ensures Members know how plan ahead and deal with any issues encountered.

MCIA's Public Relations supports the Motorcycle Safety and Transport Policy Framework (MSTP), promoting motorcycles and scooters as a solution to congestion and highlighting benefits associated with economy, parking, environment and well-being.

MCIA has a dedicated Marketing and PR Member Special Interest Group, which meets twice per annum to knowledge share, generate ideas, network and collaborate on industry campaigns and spreading MSTP messages.

MCIA is always happy to assist Members with PR, verifing facts, providing quotes/stats and promoting Members products and initiatives that fit within the MSTP.

The MCIA is your primary source of industry statistics, based on motorcycle sales, motorcycle riders and - coming soon - the motorcycle parc.

MCRIS : New Motorcycle Registration data is managed through MCRIS (Motorcycle Registration Information System). MCRIS is a databank incorporating DVLA data, which is validated by our statistics team to ensure its integrity and includes various criteria such as make, model, engine size, style and geographic location. All MCIA Members receive a monthly report and Levy Members are also offered detailed reports as part of their membership. Other members can purchase reports at preferential rates.

Two Wheel Data Centre : This statistical service offers online access to a range of data and insights from a pool of UK riders who requested insurance quotations.  A Quick Research Tool, in the form of an interactive map, and a more detailed Quarterly Insight Report is available as part of membership.
