Standards & Guidelines

A professional industry that is committed to customer care

Manufacturer and Importer Members

All MCIA manufacturing and importing Members participate within the Buy With Confidence Programme.

The Buy With Confidence Programme details the minimum standards of care that a customer can expect when purchasing a new machine from an MCIA Member.  These are contained within the MCIA’s Code of Practice.

The Code also provides an independent escalation process, through an impartial Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider, in the unlikely event that a problem occurs and a customer is dissatisfied with the outcome of a complaint. The MCIA's Code of Practice is at the core of the Buy With Confidence Programme, and by their participation, our Members demonstrate their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction, pre and post-sale.

A Member participating within the Buy With Confidence Programme agrees to:
  1. Comply with The Code of Practice for the Motorcycle Industry, the MCIA Promotion and Advertising Guidelines, and obligations contained within the Buy With Confidence Programme.
  2. Take responsibility for communicating to their dealers regarding their participation in the Buy with Confidence Programme explaining the dealer’s obligations within it.
  3. Cooperate with the National Conciliation Service in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) matters (conciliation, mediation and arbitration), should they arise, and to stand by any decisions made by the ADR provider.  Please note upon receipt of a complaint, MCIA will give the manufacturer/importer the opportunity to resolve the issue prior to escalation to ADR services.
  4. Pay for any testing required as part of an Arbitration process, in the unlikely event that testing is requested, and for Arbitration fees at the prevailing rates (details on request).
