This year’s Motorcycle Off-Road Experience is holding a dedicated ‘women only’ session on the morning of Friday 20thof June. This is in response to requests from women’s groups, who would like the opportunity to learn in a female only environment. Women who take part at this session will also be joined by the racer Maria Costello. Sandra Cole, who is project managing the Motorcycle Off-Road Experience explained the rationale behind the decision to accommodate the request: “Though this won’t appeal to all women, some report to us that they’d prefer to be in an all female group, so that they can learn at a different pace. Trainers tell us this is because some women are more likely to be self critical in a training situation.” This is the third year that the Motorcycle Off-Road Experience has taken place and will be held over four days between Friday June 20th and Monday 23rd at Bevercotes in Nottinghamshire. MORE is a unique collaboration by members of the Motorcycle Industry Association’s Off-Road Group, which includes Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Yamaha, and Suzuki, along with off-road sporting bodies AMCA, ACU andBSMA. The group identified a lack of opportunities for people to try off-road riding in a safe and structured environment for a subsidised fee of just £25. This includes provision of all bikes, protective clothing and top class instruction, from trainers who have all competed nationally or internationally themselves, including 4 times World Champion Dave Thorpe. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis via an online booking system which ‘goes live’ this Saturday (10th May) at 10am. Places for last year’s event went within an hour, so it is important to book as soon as possible around this time. See the website www.rideoffroad.co.uk for details or follow on the Facebook page.
